About Dr Martin Butson

Dr Martin Butson is a Board Member of Hope TKF Animal Welfare Foundation and a scientist-inventor committed to improving life and wellbeing through innovative solutions.

He holds a Doctor of Science and a PhD in Medical Radiation Physics and has worked for over 30 years as a Medical Physics Specialist in radiotherapy cancer treatment. In addition to his scientific career, Martin is the founder of The Water Gift, an Australian charity focused on delivering safe drinking water to vulnerable communities using simple, scalable technology he developed called the SAFE Sticker. The technology uses solar UV exposure to help purify water, bringing practical health solutions to communities lacking access to clean drinking water.

Martin’s lifelong commitment to using science with compassion reflects a broader ethos of caring for the vulnerable and supporting dignity in life. His experience in leading an innovation-driven charity and working directly with communities around the world brings valuable strategic insight and humanitarian depth to the Hope TKF Board.

A firm believer in sustainable, community-focused solutions, Martin’s approach aligns with Hope TKF’s dedication to compassionate, evidence-based action. His analytical rigour, global perspective, and quiet devotion to helping others strengthen the Foundation’s capacity to serve animals and the communities they share with us.
